Hotel
We’ve had some problems with getting the room reservation process to run smoothly. I met with someone there on Friday, and things should be resolved shortly. Because of this, we’ve been able to get the deadline extended until tomorrow. If the link isn’t working as smoothly as you’d like, please call the hotel directly at 781-444-1110 ext 1. The room block ID is “International Business Ethics Case Competition (IBECC) Room Block.” The rate is $179 plus tax. There are only a limited number of rooms available in the block, so please make reservations by tomorrow at the latest.
Deadlines
Because we’re only a month out, we’re setting some deadlines that will let us make sure we can do what’s necessary before the event. We prefer to be easygoing about things, but, for practical reasons, there are a few things we don’t have a lot of flexibility on. As an added incentive, please note that, as we mention on the website, unless you’ve contacted us ahead of time, teams that fail to meet any of the deadlines aren’t eligible for awards.
Topic. Friday, March 22. Please let us know your topic by this Friday. Just a phrase is fine. As soon as we get the topics, we’re going to formalize the schedule and ask judges to begin signing up. This works better for everyone if judges have a list of topics from which to choose. I want to remind you that we are awarding a separate set of enhanced prizes for AI topics. See the March 3 update for how we’re handling this. Send topics to: topic@ibecc.net.
Schedule preference. Friday, March 22. The Thursday, April 18, full presentations, will be spread out over the day in 75-minute sessions. The earliest will be 8 or 8:30 AM; the latest probably 5:30. We hope that everyone will be able to arrive in time for the Wednesday, 7 PM general orientation/ optional “moral compass” competition. But we recognize that this may not work with everyone’s travel schedule. Accordingly, if you need to be scheduled later in the afternoon on Thursday, please let us know now at info@ibecc.net.
Team members. Friday, March 29. Please be sure to give us the information for the students on your team requested on the registration form. Because the form can’t be edited, the easiest thing to do is simply to submit a new form. We’ll delete the older, incomplete one.
Expect to receive updates and instructions regarding a reminder about the deadline for the Executive Summary and payment of the registration fee.
