Because of the generosity of our donors, we expect to award approximately $20,000 in prizes this year. This will most likely be done via gift cards.
We expect to award approximately $17,000 in the required Full, 10-minute, and 90-second Presentation Competition. All members of the top two teams in each division in each of the three competitions will receive prizes. The exact amount will depend on the number of divisions, which is still to be determined.
Two Essay Prizes of $500. The essays will have a maximum of 500 words. One prize, funded by Stanley and Carol Botts, will be for the best essay that shows how the team’s solution exemplifies the concept of “servant leadership.” The second prize will be for the best essay explaining why the team’s recommendation is the best solution from an ethical perspective. Essays are due by Sunday, April 16.
A prize of $500 will be awarded to the winning team of the optional “World’s Most Intellectual Daunting Biathlon.” In addition, the team will win the right to name a charity that will receive a donation of $500 in the team’s name. The runner-up team will receive $250. Data on a team’s performance are due by Sunday, April 16.
Barring last minute complications, all awards will be announced on the evening (EDST, GMT-4) of Friday, April 20 (time to be determined).
