The essay (c. 750 words, no longer) should describe how a specific nonprofit organization has distinguished itself in helping people deal with any of the hardships brought on by the pandemic (sickness, food shortages, increase in child poverty and domestic violence, etc.). The winning essay will receive a $200 prize, and the organization described will receive a $500 donation in the author(s) name. The essay should be the work entirely of students. In other words, there should be no faculty input or outside assistance. In the evaluation, everything “counts”—grammar, spelling, style, etc. Essays should be submitted by Friday, April 29.
This competition is limited to the first 10 entries received. Send essays to office@ibecc.net.
