IBECC 2024 will be held at the Mount Ida Campus of the University of Massachusetts in Newton, MA, just outside of Boston. We are engaged in conversations with the local hotels to secure an appropriate room rate. We’ll post details as they become available. We expect to limit the competition to approximately 25 teams this year.
The event will begin at 7 PM on the 17th with a general orientation session and our unique “moral compass” competition. Full presentations will be given on the 18th; 10-minute and 90-second presentations on the 19th; winners will be announced at the awards program late afternoon Friday.

Northrop Grumman’s generosity is allowing us to add two new features to the 2024 competition. In consideration of the fact that the company has a special interest in AI issues, this year we’ll be creating a dedicated “Northrop Grumman AI” division. All of the topics in this division will be AI related, and the division will have enhanced prize money. (We’ll figure out exactly what this means later. Every year, the prize money we’re able to distribute depends on how much we’re able to raise from our various supporters.) We also hope to be working with the company to find ways that it can capitalize on the fact that we think that IBECC students could be excellent interns or employees. Check back for more details.
