Memo #1, International Business Ethics Case Competition (IBECC)

Dear Friends,
Thanks very much for participating in the International Business Ethics Case Competition (IBECC) to be held from April 20-22 in Cambridge, MA.  The event is co-sponsored by the Center for Ethics and Business at Loyola Marymount University, the Opus College of Business of the University of St. Thomas (MN), and the Ethics & Compliance Initiative (ECI).

1.Registration Form

Registration deadline is Saturday, Feb. 20
Topics may be submitted in a week or two if your team has not decided on this yet.

2.Registration Fee
The registration fee is due by this Saturday, Feb. 20.  The cost to enroll one team is $400 and for two teams it will be $600.  Please go to https://theibecc.net/2016-competition/registrationdeadlines/ to enroll your school.  We are currently holding a place for you in the competition, but entry is not guaranteed until the registration fee has been paid.

3.Hotel
The event will take place at the luxurious Boston Marriott Cambridge Hotel.  Just a few blocks from the scenic Charles River, the hotel boasts an indoor pool and is conveniently located by the Kendall Square/MIT Red Line Subway Station for easy access to historic Boston.  For the evenings of Wednesday, April 20th through Friday, April 23rd, we have secured a discounted group rate of $249/night that includes free wi-fi.  You must reserve your rooms by Wednesday, March 30th to receive the discounted rate.  Awards will be announced and prizes will be distributed the evening of the 22nd, so please do not book your flight home before Friday the 22nd.  Due to our contract for the event, participants must stay at the Marriott during the duration of the event.

4.IBECC 2016 Schedule

  • Wednesday, April 20 –  Welcome Orientation (evening)
  • Thursday, April 21 – Full Presentations, Biathlon
  • Friday, April 22- 10 minute/90 second Presentations, Biathlon
  • Friday, April 22 – Awards Banquet
  • Saturday, April 23- Departure date for teams

Since the Welcome Orientation will be held in the evening, Wednesday may be used as a travel day.

5.Visa Letter

If you are an international team, please let us know immediately, if you need us to provide a letter to secure a visa.

6.Executive Summary

The Executive Summary for your team’s presentation is due by Friday, March 22nd. Instructions and the PDF form can be found at

7.PowerPoint

The PowerPoint for your team’s presentation will be due on Friday, April 11.  Please send this to Chiray Koo at ckoo@ibecc.net.  You may bring an updated version of your PowerPoint to the event.

8.Biathlon

Further information about the biathlon will be sent in the next memo.

9.Prizes

We will be awarding prizes to the top performing teams. Further information will be forthcoming.
